Medication Policy and Procedures:

Sick children:
For the health and safety of all the children, it is essential that sick children are not brought to school.

If a toddler develops any of the following symptoms during the night, he/she will not be allowed at school the following day:

• Fever – more than 38˚C

• Vomiting

• Diarrhea

• Pink eyes/red eyes

• Persistent cough

• Croup

• Any childhood illness

• Strange rash

• Yellow/green mucus

Sick children may return to school after the following periods:

Chickenpox: one week after onset (or when lesions are crusted).

Diphtheria: 24 hours after the initial medication was given.

Vomiting and diarrhea: 24 hours after last episode.

Pink eyes/ other eye infection: until symptoms disappear.

When children become ill at school during the day, the parents/guardians will be contacted, it will be requested that the toddler be picked up from school.

If a child's fever is 38°C, the parent will be notified and the toddler will have to be taken as soon as possible. When the parent gives permission by phone, we can give a pain syrup to bring the fever under control.

Medication procedures:
NO MEDICINE MAY BE STORED IN TODDLER'S BAGS!!!
The school will only administer medication with written approval from parents/guardians. The teacher must be notified in writing by the parent via WhatsApp with an indication of the dose that may be given.

The following information must be provided in relation to medicine:

• Name of medication.

• Color of medicine. (in syringe)

• Dosage.

• Time when medicine should be administered.

Medication must be drawn up in a syringe at home and put in a "ziplock" bag. The bag must be clearly marked with the child's name and surname. This measure is to prevent overdose and thereby protect the children and teachers.

Where possible, the first dosage of the medicine should already be given at home to observe any allergic reactions. NB! *** No suppositories will be administered to toddlers ***

Emergency procedures:
During an emergency, the toddler will be transported to the nearest private hospital by a designated person.
